Background

Wessex Astrologer specialises in the sale of astrology books. The business had been using a basic website for many years, and its owners were keen to update the look and feel of their online presence.

Brief

Wessex Astrologer required a new website that would give them a modern, contemporary look to better showcase their books. The website should be easy to use, visually appealing and should allow customers to easily find and purchase the books they were looking for. It also required;

• IP detection to redirect international users to an appropriate page.
• Migration of data from the old site.
• Author specific pages that display’s their bio, books and interviews.

Design & Build

I designed and built a new website for Wessex Astrologer using WordPress. The website featured an attractive and modern design, with an easy–to–use navigation. The homepage featured a large slider of images highlighting the books they had on offer, while the book pages featured detailed descriptions, images and customer reviews.

eCommerce Store

The website features an ecommerce store, which allowed customers to easily find and purchase books. This was integrated with multiple payment options including PayPal, so customers could make payments securely.

Blog

Research was done into typography to find the most optimised style of font family, weight, size etc for keeping the reader engaged.

Author Pages

Each author has their own page that display’s their image and name at the top in a hero block style. Then below sits a list of interviews that can be streamed directly on the website from YouTube or Spotify. Below this is a short bio of the author and product links to any books they have written.
